Too Old to Rock n' Roll, Too Young to Die...

Its been quite some time since I saw "Rock On!!", and believe me, writing a review regarding the same is proving to be quite painful :( The rock buff I am, I obviously have a soft corner for the theme, and can't stop hating myself for not liking the movie as I had anticipated. I had steped into the audi expecting to be blown off to cloud nine, and found myself struggling six feet down under. I'm disappointed, to say the least. The movie was a trenchant example of how you can take a brilliant idea, which held tremendous creative potential and enough areas to explore in the first place, and totally decimate it with a cliched plot. Quite weak, must say. I still look for condolence in the fact that someone actually assayed the rock scenario, which is otherwise deemed noise pollution by the orthdox. (No offenses, please. I respect your views and am in no way being judgmental about them.) Imagining a chubby, bald guy swaying to an enthralling guitar riff and screeching-"Kaale, Neele, Peele. Naag hain Zehreelay!!", I must say, that isn't quite my idea of a rock band. Not even a band at the least. Not that i think I'm superior, but I'd die a thousand deaths if I percieved myself in his position.(I'm sorry bald guy, but really I didn't like the song. Was a bit weird. And please find a new name for your band. "Chakravyu" is kinda..ummm...i have no words really...) All in all, they couldn't quite hit the nail on the head, and it was a really debile attempt. Could've rocked more. The music was okayish, although I didn't miss the bollywood-touch. I wish they could've left Rock as it is. The blend didn't seem right. Although "Tum Ho Toh" gave me goosebumps, and the rest of the songs were quite captivating too, the lyrics seemed to come out of some 5th grade poet's handbook. I know I'm no great lyricist or writer for that matter, but they could've managed better lyrics. "Tum Ho Toh" is a classic example. Nothing overdone there. Farhan Akhtar surprisingly gave awesome vocals to the songs, exceeding all expectations as far as his husky voice is concerned.

By the time you reach here, I'll have kicked my ass in my own head a zillion times for writing this. I could've been more brutal with my comments, but then I'm no Simon Cowell, and i think i'm still a bit biased when it comes to rock.
Adios. Signing off...
El Mechanchi....

PS: I liked the movie posters though :P.
